Chamberlain is known as a WPA muralist and achieved success in Southern California in the early 20th Century under the patronage of Mrs. Henry E. Huntington. This abstracted composition dates to the 1940s and was most likely painted on the California coast, specifically near Laguna Beach where he lived. It is signed in the lower right corner and has been newly reframed and matted under glass. Dimensions: H 36.25 in. x W 30.25 in. x D 1 in.
