"Check Out on Aisle #3" an original oil on canvas painting by American artist Adam Henderson. Signed on the front as well as titled and dated on the back side. 52.5" tall x 24" wide. Mr. Hendersons color palette is distinguished by sharp and minor notes. There seem to be no or few primary color moments. Even his reds tend to hover more closely to Chinese tones. Flashes of pink fleshy tones add a corporeal emotion to his abstractions. In total, his compositions gather themselves into dream state visions of an ethereal reality. This wonderfully strange painting is given a humorous side by it's title, but it remains a serious painting. The figure follows a classical order from bottom to top as it rises from a clear footing up to a midsection with a belly, fingers and bones and on up to dually expressed heads, which somehow remain mask-like, even though one wears a crown of thorns. The crests and shields and banners yield nothing but mystery and the grand finale is the Mattise-styled bird soaring up and out of the top of the canvas.
