"A Little Night Music", An original large scale acrylic on canvas painting by California artist Wesley E. Johnson. The suggestion of a nocturnal time and space as well as the impressionistic and pointilist forms and colors that populate the middle ground of this painting add a dynamic tension to this composition. The dark vertical flanking panels move from peacock blue to lucent green as though referencing the color scheme of a Pre-Raphaelite painting. The white toned center panels seem to be harbingers of an outward space where morning has already begun. The large scale of this painting (approx. 7' tall x 7' wide ) adds to the drama of this spectacular painting. Signed on the bottom left and dated 1987. The frame is a concave silvered wood. This tone was pulled from the painting itself. Newly stretched, cleaned and framed...this painting is ready to hang.
