"Chrysanthemum", A monumental wall mounted sculpture by American artist Gene Flores. This sculpture was located in a garden area of the iconic Elrod House which is considered to be one of the most architecturally significant residential structures in the United States. Arthur Elrod commissioned the artist to make this and other pieces for his new residence which was to be located in the Southridge community of Palm Springs. The house is sited on a commanding ridge with amazing 180 degree views overlooking the city of Palm Springs along side other significant residences like the Hugh Kaptur designed Steve McQueen House and the Lautner designed Bob Hope residence. Arthur Elrod was the eponymous go-to interior designer for the rich and famous in his day. The Elrod House is also famous for being the backdrop, with interior scenes, in the James Bond film "Diamonds Are Forever". This sculpture has been written and blogged about numerous times and has often been incorrectly attributed to American artist Harry Bertoia. We are excited to present this unique opportunity to own a piece of important Mid Century Modern design from a very important Mid Century home.
Composed of interlocking aluminum "leaflets" which are welded to a steel support and hanging structure, this item is simply spectacular.

Condition
EXCELLENT, wear consistent with age and use

Measurements
