A handsome and rare Vienna Werkstatte bench, possibly by Josef Hoffman, circa 1905.  The label on the underside is consistent and identical with labels on Thonet furniture of this period and style. The sinuous legs have gorgeous incised details. The classic Thonet bentwood struts under each corner tie the whole piece together both literally and visually. The recently reupholstered seat is done with a pattern that is appropriate for the style and period.
