A futuristic and forward-thinking 1960s Italian chrome-plated spherical pendant with inset Italian glass lenses. A central ring which bisects the fixture, adds to the planetary feel of the lantern. Each of the thick molded glass lenses acts as a magnifier for the internal light source. The top half of the lantern lifts off allowing access for changing bulbs. The design of the fixture has been attributed to the Italian lighting company, Leucos and is similar in design to other fixtures designed by Oscar Torlasco for Stilkronen. Note: the height in the listing is for the total length including the pipe and ceiling canopy above the fixture. The diameter of the fixture alone is 16".
