"Offerings" A monumentally scaled (10' wide x 8' high) Abstract Expressionist acrylic on canvas painting by California artist Wesley E. Johnson (b. 1934). This is the largest of these monumental canvases that we have had the opportunity to handle and is one that evokes the artists "moodier" side of abstraction with the dark palette of colors that are offset and highlighted by areas of intense light. The painting is signed and dated '89 in the lower left corner. During this period, Wesley Johnson was creating these sizable paintings in a studio space in Los Angeles that would accommodate the large scale. This piece is offered in its stretched but unframed state, with the sides finished in dark paint and ready for hanging.
