An English George III period inlaid satinwood octagonal tea caddy. Circa 1800. The top and front surfaces of the box are decorated with fan motifs set into oval frameworks and the edges are cross banded with rosewood and inlaid ebony. The canted corners of the box are inlaid to resemble fluted columns with traces of green stain present. The tea caddy retains the original, or old, foiled interior along with the brass lock and internal lid finial, as well as the felt on the bottom.

An outstanding original painting by American artist Wesley E. Johnson, circa 1980s. A large-scale abstract Expressionist acrylic on canvas by California artist Wesley E. Johnson (B. 1934). This composition tends towards pigments that are darker and perhaps more intense than some of Johnson's other works but is still fully rooted in the California style of Abstract Expressionism. Johnson's works generally show a proclivity towards light and landscape that pervaded the collective work of west coast artists like Thiebaud and Diebenkorn. This tendency was not present in the east coasts earlier, at times more cerebral explorations of the Expressionist movement. This work is one of the most exciting and thought provoking of Johnson's works produced during the 1980s and suggests a correlation to the earlier east coast abstract Expressionist movement. Newly stretched and framed, it is signed in the lower right corner.

A gorgeously rendered atmospheric oil on canvas landscape titled "Fjordlandschaft" (fjord landscape) by noted Norwegian artist Georg Anton Rasmussen (1842-1914). The painting depicts a fjord inlet with boats and was a recurring subject for the artist. It is signed and dated '97 (1897) on the lower left and is set in its original 19th Century gold leaf frame, that has a brass plaque identifying the title and artist. A pre-1960 auction label from W.C. O'Connor, a Los Angeles auction house, is retained on reverse. The back of the canvas also shows a minor repair which is not evident on the painting itself; the frame has had scattered, small repairs to the gilding. A tour de force, this painting is simply captivating.

A literally spectacular 1960s oil on panel scene of "The Greatest Show On Earth" by American artist Dennis Neville. This lively and colorful painting depicts throngs of people being herded into the main entrance to see "the big show" and into the big top. Images on the side of the tent show the female snake charmer and the fat lady...undoubtedly stars of the circus. Dennis Neville is well known as an American comic book artist who was working during the "golden age" of comic books in the 1940s and assisted Joe Schuster with the Superman comic series. This fabulously cacophonous painting is unsigned and was acquired with another of Neville's circus paintings that bears his signature. Recently cleaned and newly reframed in a new but retro weathered wooden frame with a gilt edge.

An oil on canvas composition entitled "Retour de Carnaval" by School of Paris artist, Simone Andreani. The artist is identified on the back along with the year 1960. The title of the piece translates into "after the carnival" which is consistent with imagery of the carnival masks, empty wine glass and pinwheel on the table. The colorful harlequin patterned curtains on either side of the French doors add an extra note of frivolity. The cityscape that is visible outside the window is Paris and the the dome of Sacre Coeur is visible in the distance. The painting has been newly reframed and has a linen liner and brass identification plaque.

"Opus 13" an original resin on panel painting by American artist Ken Sloan. These paintings are "self-framed" in other words, Ken has given them a fine finished wood edge which completes the piece and does not require any further framing. His wonderful stylized "chop mark" signature is also positioned on the side. In Ken's own words : "The actual process begins with transparent, semi-transparent and opaque epoxy resin. Both liquid and powdered pigments are used in the medium. When I pour the resin it looks like liquid. When it dries, it still looks like liquid. Each color layer is allowed to fully cure before the next is applied. The layers form a heavily textured puzzle-like appearance. The viscosity of the medium can be manipulated with heat and the timing of the pour. I think of the finished pieces as fluid, liquid sculptures. The glassy transparent and semi-transparent layers allow the viewer to see the evolution of the piece. Perhaps that is what defines my work, this sense that the history of the process is revealed in the final painting. I believe the word pentimento applies. I look at a finished piece and can see its roots, its evolution."

A stylish nine-drawer stained oak chest by American of Martinsville. This cabinet is distinguished by the inventive criss-cross moldings that add graphic interest to the front.

An imposing and important European cherry bookcase or sideboard cabinet by the firm Dominique, circa 1940s. This cabinet has three sections, shelved top to bottom, and is distinguished by four architectural pilasters surrounding three doors with raised panels. The raised panel detail is also present on the sides. These pilasters are composed of herringbone veneered cherry wood with vertical gilded bronze string inlay. The base and capitals of these pilasters are also gilded bronze. The center door has a large circular escutcheon lock mechanism; the original keys are present. This piece is raised up on two bold keystone form plinths that extend from front to back. The top, which has a discreet overhanging detail, is finished in matching cherry. A true post Art Deco tour de force by a venerable house of design. Ref: "Ensembles Mobiliers" Vol. 16 1956. Plate 20. Ref: Willy Huybrechts, co-author of "Le Maison Dominique" pub. 2008 (authentication). This cabinet stood originally in the salon of the Embassy of France to Sarrebruck. Sarrebruck was a tiny nation in the Alsace region that straddles France and Germany. It is now a part of Germany.

A spectacular 1960s era abstract standing floor sculpture in the manner of American sculptor Joseph A. Burlini. Composed of welded metal and wire with a painted finish, slivered colored glass panels are mounted into the matrix of the piece. The entire metal structure is mounted onto a heavy and substantial Italian Travertine base. The main body of the sculpture lifts out of the two metal supports (see images) and separates the entire enterprise into two sections. Though static and inactive this sculpture has a strong relationship with the tradition of Kinetic sculptures of the 1960s and the art of Rube Goldberg. The sculpture is suitable for indoor or outdoor use.

A spectacular circular, steel case mounted, glass sculpture by Canadian (British Columbia) artist and sculptor Mary Filer (1920-2016). As the photographs show, this sculpture consists of multiple layers of glass including cut shards and flat discs as well as stained glass all layered upon each other in opposing directions. When the light shines through, it is a wonder to behold ! This sculpture stands 16 1/2" tall and is 13" wide x 7" deep. These dimensions include the stand.
Composed of hand welded and weather patinated channel letters, this cheeky stack of letters is at once provocative, humorous, compelling and sarcastic. One of a series of rondo wall sculptures produced by California artist Del Williams, 2013. Hand made glass and steel star bursts are layered and incorporated into a circular metal frame in an asymmetrical pattern. The entire sculpture has been gold leafed on both the front and rear. The glass at the center of each star was created by Del and Brenda Williams in their studio. This particular rondo has glass that is clear with orange and yellow details. The photos show the sculpture mounted on a wall but the sculpture was created and finished so that it could be hung and viewed from the front and rear. Additionally, there is a lip on the front of the frame work that would allow for the sculpture to be set into a wall and again, viewed from both sides.

A welded steel Brutalist dining table base designed by American artist Daniel Gluck for Daniel Gluck Studios C. 1970s. The table has been fabricated from hand-wrought steel that has a burnished, textured surface that scatters ambient light reflection. The form is best described as a lotus form with inverted and extending petals surrounding a flowering stamen. The table base is a prime example of period Brutalist design, hand-made by an artisan in his Los Angeles studio. Other examples of dining table bases by Gluck are non-existent, which makes this table exceedingly rare and possibly a tour-de-force for the artist. A rare and beautifully crafted cerused French Oak dining table with six chairs and two self contained and concealed leaf extensions that mechanically slide out and maneuver into position at either end of the table, circa 1940's. Designed by renowned French designer Charles Dudouyt (1885-1946) , the dining table has classic Dudouyt styling with angle set legs in a sabre shape and decorative accent lozenges and moulding on the sides of the table. The chairs are playfully presented with a lovely rope detailing inset across the splat back and new leather upholstery on the seats. The dining table is 60 1/2" long. It is 89" long with the extensions pulled open. The chairs are 17.5" wide and 20" deep. They are 32" tall at the back with a seat height if 18 1/2". This group cannot be split up.

The "Anaconda" coffee table in chrome with glass top, designed in the 1970s by Paul Tuttle and manufactured by the Swiss firm Strässle.
